Alternative Assignment for Class 10-20 READ THIS UPDATE

As we prepare for the second half of the course I'd like you to become more familiar with the WTO. You may be familiar with it merely by name. You may be familiar with it as something "bad". You may not have an opinion. But as students of international trade, it is imperative that you know what it's all about.

As an alternative assignment I want you to do four things.

1. Go to the WTO website and register to receive WTO News. You'll get a few emails a week. You should just scan them and see what's going on at the WTO. Keep subscribing through the remainder of the semester.

2. Read about the Basics of the WTO. Go to this site and read about the basics. The links can be found on this page.

3. Bookmark the WTO website for further reference.

4. Before midnight EDT Tuesday, October 24, send me an email saying you've done the above.

I'm serious folks. You need to know what this institution is all about. I'm expecting you to know about it. And you're getting a day off so read this stuff, bookmark the pages. Furthermore, when you get email updates in the future, look them over. Some are interesting. Some are not. Also, you REALLY should know about what's going on with what is known as the Doha Round of negotiations.

If you do this, I'll grant you with two "bonus" points. These just get tacked on to your total points. This are real points. You'll like them.

Have a safe and sane fall break.

Test #1

The key to the written problems from the first test is on my I-drive. It only has the necessary content. Do not expect to see elegantly written up solutions. (But there is an elegant diagram for problem #2.)
