I have been declared ill and will not be able to make it to class on Friday. However, I have arranged for a special guest lecturer, Dr. David B. Yerger, Associate Professor in the Department of Economics and empirical macroeconomist extraordinaire.
Rather than have him continue with the discussion of options, he is going to discuss a topic on long run determination of the exchange rate: the theory of Purchasing Power Parity (which was going to be the next topic anyway). Unfortunately I do not have a copy of the text handy so I can't give you the chapter, but you'll be ok.
I am thinking that holding the test next Wednesday is a lousy idea. I need another day to wrap up options and then another day to make sure you know how to do all the types of problems you're going to need to do. But the following friday is Good Friday. I don't like giving tests that day. The following Monday is the day after Easter. I know many will like to go home for that event and I really don't want to be the one making you study for a test on Easter Sunday. So I'm going to push it back to Wednesday April 15. Yes, tax day. That will give us five more classes before the final exam. I think that will be enough time to cover a sufficient amount of material for the final. I think it potentially takes some pressure off your final. You might like that. Especially since it is the end of exam week.
All right? I hope we are all comfortable with this. I regret I have had to skip several classes this semester. It is a bit rough trying to get rid of a tumor and fight off other germs and cooties all at the same time. But I think you'll wind up with a pretty good International Finance course. I, for one, have enjoyed this group of students. Best International Finance class I've gotten to teach yet! Keep up the good work.
